LIVA research project

LIVA: Leuven Institute of Vibration and Acoustics (01-07-2007 --) (K.U.Leuven, Group Sciences, Engineering & Technology)
K.U.Leuven Interfaculty Institute for research, education and services in the field of acoustics and vibration.

Mission statement

Several research groups, spread over various faculties of our university, are active in the broad field of vibration and acoustics and perform state-of-the-art research and education and offer high-end technological services. The goal of LIVA is to bring together these different activities onto one single joined platform. The platform will allow the LIVA members to consolidate and strengthen their international top-position, regarding both quality and quantity of research, education and services, in various fields of vibration and acoustics. Furthermore, cross-fertilisation will allow the platform members to position themselves in novel fields.

The goals of the LIVA platform are to

  • further enlarge the internal and external visibility of the activities and experties of the K.U.Leuven regarding vibration and acoustics.
  • stimulate and further develop inter-disciplinary research programs.
  • set up joined initiatives regarding master and permanent education and graduate trainings (like workshops, seminars, international conferences, books, graduate school on vibration and acoustics, post-graduate training, ...).
  • fully exploit the available facilities and expertise for both internal and external consulting.
