ROLLS research project

ROLLS: Rational Approximation, Orthogonal Functions, Linear Algebra, Linear Systems, Signal Processing (1-12-93 to 31-11-96)
A Human Capital and Mobility project

Sponsored by

European Union, Human Capital and Mobility network, contract CHRX-CT93-0416

Short description

The project bundles expertise on the 5 mentioned topics distributed over several research centres of the E.U.

Research topics are

  • generalization of classical rational interpolation problems,
  • olution of new matrix interpolation problems in Schur analysis,
  • vector rational extrapolation methods,
  • study of orthogonal rational functions on the unit circle and the real line,
  • time varying systems,
  • robust iterative methods for large unsymmetric matrices,
  • robust software for structured matrices.
The closing meeting was held in November in Leipzig.
The proceedings of this meeting are published (see below).

The final report is available in postscript.

The project resulted in the publication of the special issue

A. Bultheel and M. Van Barel, editors.
Proceedings of rolls final meeting,
volume 77(1-2) of J. Comput. Appl. Math. Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1997.

The preface is available on the web.
