Description
The computational cost of simulations of vibration problems is usually dominated by the solution of linear systems, eigenvalue or model reduction problems. Generic methods do not always work (e.g., generic preconditioning) or are inefficient. An important aspect of our research is in developing efficient methods for vibrations.
The NALAG research group contributes to developing algebraic linear system solvers for industrial acoustic problems using finite element discretizations. Former work includes shifted preconditioners for damped acoustics and an incomplete multifrontal preconditioner. The focus now lies on parametric linear systems, which is closely related to model reduction. The research group collaborates with the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
